Starting a new file in Sound Forge

1. Click FILE then NEW

Use the New Window dialog to specify the parameters for the new window:

2. Choose sample rate from the Sample rate drop-down list Keep sample rate at 44.100.

3. Select channels - MONO or STEREO

How to record in Sound Forge

1. Click the RECORD icon (Round red Circle)

Once you have your audio source connected, check your levels in the audio monitor in the record window. You want the signal to be as hot and clear as possible without clipping.

2. Once you have checked your levels ....start recording.....Once you are finished click STOP then close. What you have recorded will be displayed in the new sound window

Working with your new file in Sound Forge

Once in Sound Forge you can edit or change your file as much as you want. You can do ANYTHING you wish with Sound Forge. 

After today you should be able to do the following:

1. Import a wav. or MP3 file

2. Record a new file.

3. Basic editing - Cut, copy, paste, etc.

4. EQ

5. Effects - Play with all the effects found in the Effects and Process drop down menus.
