History of Portable Media - New? or Old?

The Stereobelt was the first portable personal stereo audio cassette player.[1] It was invented in 1972 by the German-Brazilian Andreas Pavel. The Stereobelt was the ancestor of the Walkman and modern-day personal audio devices such as the iPod.
The first portable audio cassette player was created in 1972 in Germany.
The concept of the Stereobelt has led to the Sony Walkman and the Apple IPOD.

Compact Cassettes consist of two minature spools, between which a magnetically coated plastic tape is passed and wound.
Pros and Cons of Audio Cassettes?

The original Walkman was released in 1979 as the Walkman in Japan, the Soundabout in many other countries including the US, and the Stowaway in the UK. The device was created by audio division engineer Nobutoshi Kihara for Sony co-chairman Morita, who wanted to be able to listen to operas during his frequent transpacific plane trips
