The Torrington High School Marching Band
"The Pride of Torrington"
has been selected to represent the State of Connecticut in the 2010 National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. This will mark the second time that Torrington High School will be representing the State of Connecticut in a National Parade.

Performing for over 250,000 specators in the largest 4th of July celebration in the United States is something everyone in the Torrington High School Band is extremely proud of.

  Saturday – July 3, 2010
4:15am Attendance at Torrington High School
4:30am Load Busses
5:00am Depart Torrington High School, Torrington, CT
12:00pm Arrival in Washington, D.C.
  Meet your Parade Tour Managers, at Union Station
Lunch on own at Union Station
Afternoon sightseeing to include the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court Building
3:00pm Tour of the Capitol Building (timed reservation)
5:30pm Check into Marriott Courtyard Pentagon South
7:00pm Dinner at Magill’s Restaurant
  Evening walking tour of the Lincoln, Korean, and Vietnam Memorials
9:30pm Return to hotel for evening
   
 
Sunday – July 4, 2010
7:30am Full American breakfast buffet at the hotel
Your departure time today will depend on your scheduled Arrival Time in the Assembly Area
Transfer to the parade staging area on the National Mall
12:00pm Participate in the 2010 National Independence Day Parade on historic Constitution Ave.
Torrington High School - New England Representative!
Afternoon sightseeing of the Smithsonian Institute’s American History Natural History Museums
5:30pm Dinner at the Fish Market
8:00pm Attend “A Capitol Fourth celebration on the Capitol Lawn, featuring the National Symphony concert and invited guest artists (seating is not reserved but on a first come-first serve basis), followed by a grand finale fireworks display
10:30pm Return to hotel for evening
   
 
Monday – July 5, 2010
7:30am Full American breakfast at the hotel
8:30am Morning check-out and board motor coach
  Arrive at Arlington National Cemetery

10:15am
Tour of Arlington National Cemetery and participate in the special U.S Military Wreath Laying Ceremony at Tomb of the Unknown
Visit Iwo Jima Memorial
Lunch on own
Afternoon sightseeing to include the Peterson House (where Lincoln died) and Embassy Row. As well, drive by the National Cathedral and through Georgetown
9:00pm Arrive back at Torrington High School
   
   
  This is a flexible itinerary. Except for confirmed appointments and performances, the places of interest and the sequence of sightseeing might be changed if necessary or desirable. In the event of an unavoidable conflict in the performance and the sightseeing schedule, the concert schedule will prevail, and it may be necessary to exclude some sightseeing activities
