2008 was a historic year for the THS Bands.  "The Pride of Torrington"  Marching Band received 1st Place Best Appearing High School Band in the Bristol Mums Parade (Bristol, Conn.) and the North Adams Fall Foliage Parade (North Adams, Mass.).  The Jazz Ensemble received Best Overall Trombone Section at the Enrico Fermi High School and Waterford High School Jazz Festivals.  The Jazz Ensemble also had the honor to open for the United States Air Force Airmen of Note Jazz Ensemble during their Connecticut Tour in April 2008.  

The Spring Trip was to the Heritage Music Festival in Philadelphia where the THS Symphonic Band received a Superior Rating, Adjudicators Awards, Outstanding Concert Band as the highest scoring band at the festival and a "Festival of Gold" Invitation for 2009.  The THS Jazz Ensemble received a Superior Rating and Adjudicators Award for the highest scoring Jazz Ensemble at the festival.  The Entire THS Music Department received the 2008 Heritage Music Festival "Festival Sweepstakes Award" as the highest scoring High School Music Department and "Instrumental Sweepstakes Award" as the highest scoring combined instrumental scores. Nick Corbo (Bass 08) received the only Instrumental Maestro Award at the festival and Kyle Drevline (Oboe, Sax, Vocal 08) received one of the four Vocal Maestro Awards.
